Types of Ratings (LERW)
One thing that is incredibly important to note – since the production of these videos RESNET Standards have been updated to include a new rating type: Threshold Ratings. These are essentially Confirmed Ratings which have their test values replaced by the ‘threshold’ values of passing for code. Example: you test a house for air infiltration and duct leakage – instead of updating the model with these test values, you insert ‘equal-to-or-worse-than’ values (code minimum) in the model and register the dwelling unit.
Why wouldn’t you just use the better-than tested values? Who knows!
